Freeroute crashed and briefly shows an error

I am trying to use the freerouting plugin and it is failing. The router starts but the crashes whilst showing an error that closes before I can read it. I cannot find a freeroute log file so see what the failure is.

Make sure you have latest java installed and available on PATH.
If you have it already then check if you can run standalone freerouting app.

Thanks, I download the jar file and can run the freerouter from the jar file. However, nothing actually routes now. The design actually shows up in the freerouter page with all the nets connected. Is there anything special I have to do to get a 4 layer board to route?

Start small, try to get a very simple small 2 layer board to route. Just get 2 resistors to be connected in parallel, then you will slowly figure out what is causing the issue.

Some things off the top of my head: make sure your net classes are configured so that routing traces is possible, make sure you have a board outline (checking in kicad 3d viewer helps) and make sure there are no keepout areas. Add zones as last step after routing.

Also make sure you’re running 7.0.5. There was a DSN generation bug in earlier v7 releases.
