Footprint wizard question: is there a way to update the input field after setting its value

A footprint wizard parameter has the setValue method with which one can set the internal value. However, the input field is not updated so the user never sees what one writes into this field from within python. (I already reported it as a bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/kicad/+bug/1846404)

Has anybody an idea for a workaround?
