When I select to add a symbol to the schematic a symbol from the library, there’s supposed to be a footprint preview windows below the symbol preview window, and between them an option to associate a footprint with the symbol.
Supposedly when this feature was added to version 5, there was a preference to turn that feature on/off but I don’t see that anywhere in latest version of 6.
