Footprint datasheet on http server not available by menu / toolbar

In KiCad 9 footpinrt editor choosing Inspect → Show Datasheet from the menu does not seem to work. It just indicates No datasheet found in the footprint.

Using the little button at the right of the Datasheet textbox in the Footprint Properties dialog (see screenshot) however works as expected by opening a browser allowing me to download the PDF datasheet.

My datasheets are accessed by means of http links as they are stored on a web-server.

Aren’t these two commands supposed to do the same?

Apparently not. . . .

From some testing I just did you need to do this . . .

I consider this a bug and I think you should raise a Bug Report
