Footprint creator shows a blank screen

I have mad footprints on other programs but with Kicad 6 when I create a new footprint the REF does not display and when I place a PAD it immediately dissapears when I click the mouse to place it.
Very frustrating…!!

How is the setting on the appearance-panel (normally on right-side of screen):

  • all alyers enabled?
  • all objects enabled?
  • layer display option == normal?

Thanks, if looks as if one of the objects needed to be set.
