Not sure if the subject is 100% correct, but if I add a filled zone I can’t see through it to see the footprints/tracks as in this example:
This seems to be project specific so not sure how I managed to do this.
On a different project I can see through the filled zone as in this example:
Running 9.0.0 RC1 but I don’t think its a bug as it’s only a specific project.
Is there a setting to change this?

Take a look at the ‘Objects’ tab in the Appearance panel. There are opacity slides for object types, including zones:

Use the menu View → Panels → Appearance to display the panel if you can’t see it.

Thanks - I didn’t see the slide bars as the window was too small 
Expanded window and found them.
