Hello,
I am finishing my layout importing a png image as a footprint library on the B.Cu, and I would like to add a fill zone all around it without margins?
In this way the image would be immersed into the fill zone, and I would add a no fill zone inside to preserve it from being filled inside.
Is it possible?
Why do not simply add those features to you PNG?
Anyway, in KiCad each zone has it’s own properties, and things like margins and clearance can be adjusted for each zone individually.
You can access the properties of a zone by hovering over an edge of a zone and pressing “e” for edit (properties).
Thanks,
I tried to put zero for margins and clearance but I always had a box shaped around my PNG image.
What do you mean by “add those features to your PNG?”
If you change the properties of a zone you have to regenerate the zone boundaries to show the changes.
It is unclear to me what your PNG looks like. From your post it seemd like you wanted to use a zone to make some kind of border around your PNG.
Ok, maybe that’s the reason.
My png is a decorative art png, and I think I did not express myself properly in the first post, sorry.
I just want the image to be immersed into the rest of the fill zone, and avoid the box around the image.
Thanks for your answers paulvdh
Edit > I just had difficulties, also removing margins and clearance, so in the end I used a little trick. First I did the Fill Zone and the No fill area inside. I filled the fill zone and then added the imported footprint image. When exporting the gerber I confirmed I did not want the fill zone to be updated… and that worked for me.
Cheers.
