Hello, I have just tried Kicad. I have a problem with fields annotating a component. I do not know how the field placement in the editor library (to the right on the screenshot) relates to the placement on the schematics.
I would like to have a resistor with fields as close as possible to it, so that it does not clash with other components but instead fills the free space just around it. Yet, the “horizontal” resistor has both fields moved to the side, contrary to what the library editor shows. Any help?
Please disable automatic fields distribution in Eeschema options.
Even if these options are enabled, you can still move fields by hand for arranged components.
Thank you. I would have yet another beginner question, though. When I select a capacitor, there is an annotation “C_small” but no value. Similarly, a potentiometer has an annotation “POT”, which can not be changed into a value. I do not need any of these annotations, the graphical symbol is enough. I would want instead to have a component number and a value, ilke C1 100nf. How could it be done?
