Do you know why engineers have flat foreheads? Cause they(we) slap them every time we do something stupid. The old KiCAD had a BOM mechanism that was pretty easy to use with a little futzing around. I was banging my head to get modification to the scripts to generate a custom BOM and output it as a csv file with KiCAD 7. Then I realized that all I have to do is check and uncheck the required boxes in the Symbol Field Table, organize the columns, then export as CVS(next to the OK button). Duh, another red mark on my forehead.
