Using Version (5.1.10)-1 of Layout and it is giving me an extra wide clearance for the Gnd net. I am getting the same clearance that is configured in the Board Setup under the File Menu for all other nets. To illustrate, pads assigned to the V3.3 and Gnd nets show a big difference in the clearances as seen in the picture below. Yet those two nets are both configured to have the Default Net Class which has 0.2mm clearance. The top layer uses a Copper Pour to automatically connect Gnd and, perhaps, this is the root cause. But even the Clearance in that Copper Pour has been assigned the same 0.2mm clearance, yet Layout is actually giving much more clearance than that. I can’t think of another place in KiCAD that could account for this.
I just solved the problem. It is because of the Thermal Relief.
In advance: I don’t use (or have used) v5.x, so take this answer with caution.
The following is remarkable:
- the gap between the GND-pad and the filled zone is not the clearance. Clearance is only between different nets.
- the GND-pad is connected to the zone with thermals / thermal spokes. You could look into the zone-parameters and look if there is setting for the thermals: spoke width / thermal relief gap
