Export Gerber files to the PCB editor

Hello,

I have imported some Gerber Files in Kicad using the Kicad Gerber Viewer: no problem (unless it does not recognize 3 layers):
https://www.cjoint.com/c/OBjmpKiwn51

But when I want to export these to the Kicad PCB editor, by using the “export to the PCB editor” from the “File” menu, I get a blank page: nothing on the page.

How should I proceed ?

Thank you

Are you aware that the conversion from Gerber to PCB file will not be usable without manual editing? A lot of information from the original PCB is missiing in the Gerbers. That reverse workflow is intended to start the process of reverse engineering boards for which you don’t have the PCB file. It’s not for going back and forth between PCB and Gerbers.

If this is what you really want, to reverse engineer boards, there are topics where people (not me) who have done this have tips.

Yes I know that manual editing will be necessary.
I just want to know what the PCB editor page is absolutely blank when I export from the Gerber Viewer…

In that case it’s best that you post the version info of KiCad and your OS, and attach your project (if it’s not confidential) with step by step description of what you did to help others replicate your situation. There is just not enough info in “I get a blank page”.

I prefer to ask to the designer, but it will probably have to remain private…

Kicad = v8.0.8 and W11-64bits.

I can use another online Gerber viewer, but I believe I have managed to import it in Kicad: not every layer because Kicad does not import some of them…
I should receive the physical PCB in a few days, so I will check every pad with a DMM: it is a small PCB fortunately !
