In the ideal world “sig2” at the root level would have been detected as an error as it was a named net, but only one thing was connected to it. ERC with 6.0.8 doesn’t find it and 6.0.9 has a number of issues around ERC and net names (Issue #12814)

That was a bug/feature request for some time. It was worked on and v6.0.9 discovers this situation.
Unfortunately at the same time v6.0.9 introduced many false-positive “not connected” warnings - you mentioned already the gitlab-issue #12814
