Duplicate hierarchical sheet designator settings

Hi,

I am wondering if there is an option for annotating the schematic for duplicate hierarchical sheets where the reference is for example C305 in the just drawn schematic. Once you create a duplicate the reference changes to C305_1 on the sheet just drawn and on the duplicated sheet C305_2.

I think this is also a feature in Altium, but I am not completely sure. I think this is a handy feature since it is easy to see that it is a duplicated part and duplicated sheets could be deleted from the exported PDF, which makes the schematic easier to read.

Currently not that exact style to my knowledge, KiCad is much more limited in how reference designators can be auto assigned. I believe all auto annotations end up in the form <letter><number(s)> like C2071 or R2

I think the closest thing to what you want is auto annotating with the sheet number first. If you have a series of instances of a hierarchical sheet, they will each be assigned a number (2,3,4…) and you can set KiCad to annotate per sheet. If your sheet has C42, R3, you end up with designators like C242, R203 and C342, R303.
