Dropping a pin w/o mouse click. Possible? [SOLVED]

Hello all,

Anybody know if it’s possible to drop a pin using keyboard, e.g hit “p” key to open pin properties then drop it with a keyboard shortcut (NOT MOUSE CLICK). Really trying to speed things up, or at least feel like I’m speeding things up.

Thanks!
FS

a pin?
in eeschema?
speeding things up?

what are you trying to do?

Joan_Sparky: Sounds like the goal is to make a library part, and if you don’t see why it’s desirable to speed it up, try making symbol for a part with hundreds of pins!

What’s your platform? On Linux I can just hit P to open pin properties, edit things, hit Enter to close the properties, then hit Enter again to place the pin.

Thank you for clarifying for me. Yes, I making new components in library editor. I’m also on Linux (Ubuntu 14.04), but Enter doesn’t work for me. Strange. I’m going to make sure I’m running latest stable release.

Newest build works great (so far). I was using an old version where apparently hitting enter in part editor was not a feature haha.

Interesting, how old? I think it’s done that for a long time.

Judging by the comments in Ubuntu software center, four years old. It possible there could’ve been other factors at play too.

Four! wow, okay, not surprised then.

“Old stable” is only two years old. I wonder why they are ancient.
