Drawing Sheet Editor Help

I am new to Kicad and I am stuck trying to create a personalised title block. I can see a lot of documentation and videos for Page Layout Editor but nothing for Drawing Sheet Editor. I do not think they are the same thing.

Kicad 7 documentation also seems to be for page layout editor. Is there an introductory article for the Drawing Sheet Editor?

How about this one? Drawing Sheet Editor | 7.0 | English | Documentation | KiCad

Thanks for the quick reply. I am not sure if that is for Drawing Sheet Editor. It says

introducing the document as being for Page layout Editor.

It is also different from what I see. For example my variables are referenced with $ symbol instead of %. My window is different from what is in the document.

The product presents differently. Am I misunderstanding something obvious?

Well that’s what it is named as at the top level docs.kicad.org. That document is a few years old as it might be out of date. But I don’t use it so someone else will have to comment.

I think there has been an informal renaming of the components of the suite:

eeschema → schematic editor
pcbnew → PCB editor
page layout editor → drawing sheet editor

But the old names live on in the program names. Until the project starts using multi faceted executables or I forget what the technology is called.

Thanks, that makes sense. I’m just not sure since my window is similar but not the same as what is in the documentation. I also cannot make any edits which is very strange.

I think it’s like with the other editors, you can’t edit the system libraries but have to create your sheets in your own directories. There should be a ready made directory in your personal config.
