Drawing diagonal wires - how? [SOLVED]

Hi all,

I’ve spent over 20 minutes trying to figure out how to draw a diagonal wire in kicad. I could just let it go, but the perfectionist in me is not satisfied! I’ve found that I can make an existing wire become diagonal by dragging it, but it’s not possible to manipulate that functionality in such a way as to do what I need.

Generally I don’t like diagonal wires on schematics, but an example of where it is commonly used to good effect is a flip-flop circuit. This is in fact what I am trying to draw.

Any ideas?

Go to the “Schematic Editor Options” and then disable the checkbox “Restrict busses and wires to H and V orientation”. This should do the trick.

That does indeed do the trick Airic! Thanks very much!

I think I will leave the setting on in general, but I’ll turn it off as and when I need it.

Cheers!

Came here looking for how to do diagonal lines in KiCAD 9. Updating answer for recent versions in case anyone else is wondering the same.

It’s even easier now. Look on the left side toolbar for options.
