Do not place on PCB assembly

How do you inform the PCB manufacturer that assembles your board that a part is not to be placed on the board. Is it the check box that says Do not include in BOM?
Any help would be appreciated.

Checking that box will exclude the component from the BOM (the list of components that you later pass to the assembler), as such if your assembler receives a board with 100 components and a BOM with 80, he won’t populate the 20 left out (they may contact you to make sure it wasn’t a mistake, but that is not always the case).

I included only the parts I wanted in the BOM and CPL as the PCB manufacturer and assembler are the same. They just assumed I would do the rest (an IC and a couple of TH resistors) myself.
