Diverence in kicad vs gerber output

in kicad TSSOP20 package has separate mask for each pad.

in kicad gerber viewer they are consolidated in two big masks.

is this normal , al the other footprints on my board have separate masks for pads
can i change this , is that necessary
please advice.
