I am using a specialized process with really small via, 35 um hole diameter and a minimum 60 um diameter via pad. These via pads are not properly displayed in KiCAD.The via pad diameter is displayed as 75 um while the hole is displayed correctly. It would be really helpful if the via pads were displayed as designed.
The questions are:
- Did you find a Fab House which will manufacture it to these dimensions?
- If so - did you check their prices for vias of that size?
- Are you sure you are talking about 35um / 60um, not 350um / 600um?
Yes, I can confirm, as @RobK also said, that these dimensions are correct (35um / 60um). I have already manufactured boards with this specialized niche process.
Sounds like an edge case that needs a developer to look at it. This forum is mostly users, so you should write an issue on Gitlab to make sure the case gets tracked and eventually fixed. Easiest way to do that is KiCad > About Kicad > Report a bug, which opens a Gitlab issue with the template partially filled in. When possible, you should attach an example project with the minimum required to replicate the issue.
Further to @scandey’s instructions about Gitlab.
If you are not a member, after you click “Report a Bug”, you will be prompted to join. It only takes a couple of minutes.
When you have the new issue template open, on the left is a column. In that column is a heading “Issues”. Click on that to find many open issues so you can understand the style for creating an issue.
When creating an issue, under the instructions is the line “# Kicad Version”. Leave this line and everything under it on the issue. This shows the Kicad version you are using. If it is removed, the issue will automatically be closed.
