Dispensable fields in Symbol Properties

From my point of view, in the process of schematic design, PCB layout, documentation generation and manufacturing, these three fields are essential:

  • Reference
  • Value
  • Footprint

However, since the beginning of kicad, the Datasheet field is also considered mandatory. Now in version v8 a new field appears that cannot be deleted (Description).

Why are these last two fields mandatory?
Why aren’t users given the option to add them (or not) to the design?

That field is not new, it was always there. It was only moved from a “special place” into the normal fields section.
