Hi there,
is there any way to disable the double click to edit function? It is driving me crazy as 50% of the times I want to move something it opens up the edit window. I’m quite happy with pressing ‘E’ to get that function - no need for the double click.

I have a lot of work to do… 
After some 5+ years of using KiCad I just learned you can open the edit properties dialog with a double click.

A double click takes more time than a single click
When I was younger more in a hurry and less patient I used to spend some time with fine tuning things like double clicking speed, so I could have two single clicks with minimum time delay, but could still get a doubleclick by clicking even quicker. I developed some muscle memory for the difference, while others when trying to use my computer had trouble with getting a double click.
Double click “speed” is configurable in Windows OS at least (not inside kicad). You need to adjust it to a faster speed, I think.
