Different edge cuts in different layers

Hello All,

I need to design a custom PCB, showing edge cuts of different shapes depending on layer… see in picture attached here.

actually, an empty cavity in the bottom layer and an empty hole in the top layer

Is there a way to manage in KiCAD a case like this ? thanks All

There is no standard-workflow directly implemented for this feature. So the exported gerber / 3D-viewer doesn’t directly support this feature.

I would draw the cavity-geometry on an additional user-layer (with only this z-axis-milling). Write a note onto this layer how deep the cavity should be milled and from which side. And include this additional gerber-file and the milling-notes into the files for the pcb-manufacturer.

But prior to this: try to contact the pcb-manufacturer of your choice and ask them how they want the data. It’s also possible that the pcb-manufacturer already has instructions for this use-case on his webseite/FAQ. z-axis-milling is still an exception, but no rocket science anymore.

You also have an asymmetric layer stack, which means a totally custom production
