Updated to KiCad 9 recently, and I just noticed there is no longer an option in the Symbol Editor to export an individual symbol under File > Export. Is there a different way to do that now? I know I could save a copy to a new library then import, but when you do that, it adds the library you create to the table- it was definitely nicer when you could just export to a file without adding it to a table. Am I missing something? Import > Symbol is still there, has the export option been moved elsewhere?
Not sure I understand the issue . . . can’t you just do a Save As to an existing custom/personal library, then save the library. I’ve never exported symbols . . .
When using Save As and creating a new library through that selection dialogue, the only two options are to add the created library to the project library table or the global one. In KiCad 8, you could export an individual symbol without going through that with this menu option:
But in 9, that has disappeared:
This is nothing more than a minor inconvenience, and I know that in the near future there will presumably be an option to store symbols as individual files the way that footprints are stored. I was just curious if that function from 8 was still available but with a different location/method.
Maybe still worth reporting it in Gitlab, to know if it is a regression of it was decided for the option to be gone. Thanks.
