I’m new to PCB deisgn and I’m wondering if the best way to determine the trace impedance is to look at manufacturer specs as well as the set width I have on KiCad?
Is there any way on Pcbnew to have it tell you the impedance of a trace?
Not directly. KiCad does have a tool built in.
From the main screen select the PCBCalculator icon and then the TransLine tab
This offers a calculator for a variety of types.
You have to know your layer thicknesses and dielectric constant. Then adjust track width to get the impedance that you want
