Some of our EMS partners are really pushing to receive ODB++ output files. It has been on the feature list a long time ago, but to my knowledge, it never got implemented. Are there any plans in the near future ? Also, as an alternative we could use IPC-2581 (says our EMS partner), but somehow they are unable to read the IPC-2581 file that is created by Kicad 8. I tested myself using the Wise 2581 software and I must acknowledge that the file is not readable properly.
Any status feedback on one of above output formats is welcome.
ODB++ is available in 9.0.
There have also been fixes to IPC-2581 over the course of 8.0, and for 9.0.

“not readable properly” gives no information – but I suggest trying with a recent nightly build (work on a copy of your project, not the original) and see if it’s still a problem. If so, please report a bug with details.
The developers are mostly(all?) not in a position to directly test ODB++ or IPC-2581 export. User reports with details of what tool it was exported to and what errors are claimed is essential.
These are complex formats and there are bound to be real world compatibility issues.
