Deleting a complete track

Hello,

I just discover Kicad a few day ago with YouTube tutorial. I have some questions about PcbNew editor:

  • How to delete completly a track ? Not just a segment ?
  • After deleting track segment supperposed to another element, the delete icon in the toolbar is not longer selected, how to avoid this behavior ? It is realy boring beacause the delete tool has no keyboad shortcut. So each time I delete a segment I must click on toolbar.

Thank you for your advices.

Regards,

Olivier.

Experiment with the I and U hotkeys. One selects a simple connection, and the other a whole track (I can never remember which is which). Once selected, hit delete.

This assumes you’re using the OpenGL canvas, not Legacy (under the View menU). If you’re using Legacy, then switch to OpenGL now, before you learn a bunch of stuff that won’t be relevant to the product going forward.

Cheers,
Jeff.

Hi @JeffYoung,

It’s well the i touch for select all track. Thank you for this helpful advice.

‘u’ will select all connected tracks and vias between two pads, while ‘i’ will select all tracks and vias of that net.
