I just installed KiCad on my Ubuntu 14.04 host yesterday (2014-11-22 BZR 5299). When I run CVPCB on my schematic, I can successfully see both discrete and surface mount capacitors, as well as for other components like my 7555 chip, but I only seem to be able to see discrete resistors and no surface mount resistors. I have screen shot as well, but i will post this and then see if I can figure out how to attach a screen shot.
