I’m using KiCad to draw schematics of A/V equipment.
I built a library of custom audiovisuals symbols most having more than one unit.
I use differents units to separate audio, video and control on different sheets for more visibility.
Now, i added some fields in the symbols properties such as ip address and notes but thing is, field content are not common on all units. Which in some cases could be useful, but not in that case.
So is it a way to specify that added fields are common to all units like it is the case for the ref and value fields? I couldn’t find it.
The fields should be common to all parts of that symbol, and only that symbol.
Bulk editing can be done to all symbols. Use the “Bulk Edit Fields” button to the left of the BOM button at the top of the screen. Hover mouse over that button to read description.
This takes a bit of experimenting.
The first thing to do after creating a new field is to drag the RHS edge of the window to the right so you are able to see the new field. You can condense fields you are not altering to give more room for the field you are editing
