Custom Rule: Clearance Polygon v.s keep-out region

Hey all,

First time poster here!

I’m working on a layout with a couple of keep-out regions in it. This regions are set for traces, zones, footprints etc so everything stays out. Problem is, when creating a fill, there is zero clearance between the keep-out region and the fill-zone. This is okay for inner layers, but for both outher layers I would like to add an additional 1 or 2 mm clearance for mechanical reasons.

I’ve set the clearance setting for the fill already to 2mm which works fine for everything except the keep-out region, there it still touches the region. Is there a way to solve this via custom rules?

Thanks!

I have never used custom rules so I will write what I would probably consider as a first step. I would do separate keep-out regions for outer layers.

I think that clearance you set to 2mm means to have clearance from other copper but keep-out region is not a copper to keep clearance from it.

I don’t think this currently can be done with custom rules. You will either need two keepouts (one for outer and one for inner layers) or just make the keepout larger on all layers to account for your outer layer mechanical needs.
