Hi, I think this is a software issue, but someone will correct me if not.
I am using KiCad 9, running on Windows 11. It installed on D drive as D:\KiCad 9\

I open the Drawing sheet editor, make my changes and save to the default location. This appears to be
in %userprofile%\documents\Kicad\9.0\template\MysheetA4.kicad_wks.
When I try to open this in the Page settings from Schematic editor to make my default A4 template, this does not appear in the search bar. This points to D\KiCad\Myproject. Now I have realised that it is in Documents on C drive I can find it but it is a bit confusing. Colour prefernces are saved in %userprofile%\ AppData\Roaming\kicad\9\colors.
Maybe the is just the way Windows sets out to confuse every one (especially me) by spreading files here there and everywhere. Is it possible that all these customisation files could be lumped into a specific directory in the Kicad root directory wherever it is installed?
I have very limited knowledge of Linux but I would be suprised if the files were so well buried in that OS.
