Cursed cursor trail!

Hello!
I have just installed the KiCad software suite on Linux Mint 19 and when trying to run Eeschema I get a trail of crosses when I move the mouse cursor. I see that this problem was reported in in 2018 but I don’t understand the outcome of that report.

Thanks!

Kernel Linux 4.15.0-111-generic x86_64
MATE 1.20.1

Version 4.0.7 is ancient, it had that problem, it won’t be fixed anymore for that version because it has been fixed for later versions. If at all possible, update to the latest stable version.
