Creating nice renders with kicad-stepup as the go between

@maui , can’t thank you enough for the work you keep doing on improving StepUp.

Is there a way to import the “Solder mask” layers in FreeCAD via StepUp ?
I’m trying to play with ray tracing / rendering. I can import CU layers, and SILK layers, but can’t figure out how to get the MASK.

Render output using FreeCAD + LuxCoreRender

PS - Ignore that fact that I still have to figure out how to get textures and colors in FreeCAD+LuxCoreRender

StepUp doesn’t import the solder mask, but it is emulating it applying colors to board, copper and pads…
Here the result in i.e. one of your OSHW board:

Do you have a link to your latest board to test it?

EDIT:
which is your KSU WB version?

Here’s the project repo : https://github.com/wyolum/Badge-PCB

I see you are on FC0.17…
would you please test it with the latest stable FC0.18.4 or with the daily build FC0.19?
here the result in FC 0.19 (or 0.18)

okay, will do it later tonight when I get back home.

@maui , works as expected by default.
Problem I faced was because I changed the top and bottom CU layer COLOR to GOLD. Bringing it back to DEFAULT doesn’t undo the effect, unfortunately, so one needs to delete CU layers and re-import them.

Something that I’ve noticed that seems to vanish in the translation to FreeCAD is the “W” in the OSHW logo. I’m sure this is just a minor thing, but if you are trying to get to a photo-realistic rendering, that bit of artwork isn’t realistic…

I believe that it is because the “W” and the background have almost the same color.
