Courtyards generating edge cuts in footprints Kicad Ver 9, should they or am I missing something?

I hereby certify that I am not simply asking someone else to design a footprint for me.

First up I’m new to Kicad, I have managed to work my way through to PCB creation and produced Gerber Files for the board and uploaded to JLCPCB .

I thought I was happy with the result but have noticed that courtyards in both my own created footprints and those of the Kicad libraries produce edge cuts as well.

Does this mean my board is going to have unwanted holes or have I missed something?

Or is it a glitch in Ver 9.01

I am reluctant to go the next step and and have the board manufactured.

Thank you in anticipation.

This is an auto-generated message that is in place on the “footprints” section of the KiCad.info forum. If I remove it and ask for a footprint to be designed anyway, I understand that I will be subject to forum members telling me to go design my own footprint or referring me to a 3rd party footprint site.

I can’t see any other reason for that than the courtyard being drawn on the Edge.Cuts layer.

Thank you for your reply eelik.

I really couldn’t see how I could draw a courtyard on an edge cut layer. However, I have it sorted, it seems i was plotting courtyards on all layers, so when only the edge cuts were displayed the Courtyards were there as well.

A trap for not so young players.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, much appreciated.

I didn’t know it is even possible.
