Copy paste & keep ref

Hi, on Kicad 7.0.9 on windows 10.
I’m trying to move part of my schemati from the root sheet to a hierarchical sheet.
But I want to keep all the ref, so I can preserve the layout that is already done.

So I’ve selected the part of schematic that I want to mode.
I do cut
I enter in the subsheet
I right click to do paste special :“keep existing ref even if duplicated”.
And the pasted schématic as now some new ref for all the components, that are even duplicated between themself.

I’ve also try to do a normal paste, but I get new ref (as I would expect).
I’ve tried a copy instead of a cut, but it does exactly the same.

Is it a bug in 7.0.9, or Am I missing something ?

Normally your described workflow should work.

There were some bug fixes regarding “keep existing RefDes” and some are not included in the current v7.0.9 (scheduled for 7.0.10, for instance Paste Special > Keep Existing Reference Designators sometimes fails (#15981) · Issues · KiCad / KiCad Source Code / kicad · GitLab). You could try to install one of the latest v7 testing builds from Downloads | KiCad EDA

yes the lastest testing version is working as expected.

So it’s an lready corrected bug.
