Yes, they work.
And, here are some more characters.
Non-alphanumeric characters have always been problematic with localization. It may depend on many factors. They should be reliable if you have a standard US setup. Otherwise, who knows, and at least you should give all relevant details about your version, setup, OS details and language setup etc.

Ok this is weird… I find what’s happened…
The keyboards and language is US English, OS 15.2
On the 3 monitors configuration, I had opened the PCB on the middle one. Now If I press the { or } it changes the current layer opacity (in steps related on how many times you press), but the screen update is happened only after you click with the mouse on the image…
The key release suppose to refresh the image I assume, but not on my computer.
It is probably a bug…
