Connecting a copper zone to a pad (KiCad 7)

I’ve place a component (SMD 7805) which has a large ground pad. I want to extend this with a copper zone to provide a heatsink:

Problem is that I want the pad to flow seamlessly into the zone connected all the way around.
How do I do that?

Select the zone. Press E on your keyboard. In Pad Connection, select Solid.
