Configuring the clearance in a footprint

Hello to everyone,

I need help with one thing that I don’t know how it works…

as you can see one pad is connected to ground through a ground plane that is filling the top layer.
The other pad is connected to a connector.

My newbie question is: Is there any way of removing the portion of the ground plane that is crossing the solder mask layer? The middle solder mask area is not part of the pad, is added by me in the footprint to have a full rectangle without solder mask. The thing is if I increase the clearance of the pad then it cross over the other pad and the DRC marks pad near pad and track near pad errors, so I thought maybe there is a way to set a footprint clearance instead of pad clearance…

You could add a keepout area where you only enable keepout for copper zones.
