I have a board with M5 mounting holes on the four corners of the board. I’m using the MountingHole_5.3mm_M5 footprint from the Mounting_Holes library. I’m creating a paste layer and I wanted to use these mounting holes as reference points. Now the actual holes are 5.3mm in dia but I needed to create the paste layer hole sizes to be exactly 5mm. To do this, I edited the pad and under ‘Local Clearance and Settings’ of the pad I set the ‘Solder Paste clearance’ to -0.3mm. However, this set the hole on the paste layer to 4.7mm (when viewed and measured through GerbView). How do I get this to be exact 5mm?
I just had a brief, look but try to draw a circel on the paste layer with the desired dimensions. That should work.
Thanks. That helps too. However, I figured out what I was doing wrong. Adjusting the paste clearance by -0.3 was actually reducing the hole size by 0.3 on all sides, since its a circle. I halved this number and now everything is sized as it should.
