Hi All,
With Kicad 5, it was simple to check pin numbering for symbols - it was diplayed when the pin was clicked.
Since Kicad6 it does not work like that, and it’s not even possible to display pin number when hold-down LMB on the Pin when the pin is connected to a wire.
Is there any simple way to get Pin number in recent Kicads ?
The workaround I use is to move the Symbol to disconnect it from Wires, then long-press LMB to have Pin with its number listed in the selection disambugation list, and then once discover pin numbering, move the symbol back. Cumbersome as *** .
KiCad 7 - displayed while selected the pad in the status bar:
BUT - help is on the way - KiCad 8 (now in RC2 state, soon will be published as stable):
Solved?
Oops. You wrote about symbols. So forget my answer pls.
This works in KiCad 7/8 when you uncheck this setting:
The long LMB on the junction brings up this selector menu and displays the pin number:
And when I select the pin, the status bar in schematic editor lists the pin number too.
If you don’t specifically say what version you are using it might be logical to assume you are using some revision of the current version, i.e. V7.0.X
Thank you All for your feedback.
@hsjmk exactly, that’s where the magic happens
@RaptorUK Sure, i experienced this with all Kicads more recent than my 5.0 – right now I do use 7 as my daily driver, keep 6 just in case for older projects and I’m evaluating 8rc2 aiming to migrate someday (with 8.0.1 maybe…). So mixed bag.
