Change/Edit Layer Names in Board Editor Layer

I am attempting to change the default layer names in Board Editor Layers but is seems the names are not saved for example
In1.Cu → PWR-1.Cu
In2.Cu → GND-1.Cu
In3.Cu → L1.Cu
However after clicking okay and going back to the Physical Stack the new names are not saved and revert back to KiCad Defaults. From my search it looks like this was possible in previous versions of KiCad. Has this feature now been eliminated or is this a bug that needs to be reported?

hmm… it works for me:

@cpresser Which version are you running currently?. I am on the stable 9.0.1 version that is why I was wondering if this is a bug
Snap shot below shows standard layers greyed out. I am able to change text but when I click okay it reverts back to defaults

I am also on 9.0.1

while it is hard/impossible to see, the checkboxes next to the copper layers are also not functional on my test project. They cannot be unchecked, same as in your screenshot.
