Is it possible to change the appearence of the global net label. Since it is open source there might be a file where one can customice the design of that, does anyone know?

You can change it a bit by changing the font, size, bold, etc, and with the “syntax help” you see other options for modifying the text, but overall the look of global labels will always be the same. A bit of consistency makes it easier for others using KiCad to know what the meaning of certain text strings is.
