I decided to go with C_0805_2012Metric_Pad1.18x1.45mm_HandSolder, i.e. 0805 caps. I picked the handsolder variant for futureproofing as said in the OP. Hopefully JLCPCB will be able to handle them.
So I will be using these two parts:
CL21A475KAQNNNE | Samsung Electro-Mechanics | Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors MLCC - SMD/SMT | JLCPCB and CL21A475KAQNNNE | Samsung Electro-Mechanics | Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors MLCC - SMD/SMT | JLCPCB.
The reason I am using 0805 is that I was recommended 0805 resistors in another topic; my resistors are already 0805, satisfying to use the same cap size.
0603 seems more popular so I might make the switch someday
