I’m using KiCad 8.0.4. I was using KiCad 8.0.3 for the past few weeks. I’ve built a very complex PCB and now I wish to change a few board parameters (e.g. clearance limits), but KiCad won’t let me edit the board setup or import settings from another board. KiCad gives an error saying that there is no project file or the file is read-only. I definitely have a project file (I’ve been working with it for a long time). Can someone suggest how I can troubleshoot and correct this problem?
If you can, the fastest way for others to help would be to zip up everything KiCad related except the backups and post it for someone else to look at. Understandable if not an option though!
Otherwise I’d personally start by looking in the backups folder for a copy made before switching versions and check that for a start. If you open the project file in the backup and the current project file in a text editor, you may be able to see some obvious corruption or issue.
Thank you for your suggestion. I renamed the backup directory temporarily, so KiCad would create new backups but that did not make a difference. I also renamed the .pcb-bak file, as a futile attempt at troubleshooting. Next, I will analyze the project file in a text editor, as you suggested.
