Probably your best shot:

thanks for contributing!

I tried doing it agene and agene and it did not work.
I am still getting the Err above.
I am using KiCad now for my first gob witch I just started.
I must get this to work!
Thanks every buddy for your help! help!.

  1. what KiCAD version you’re using? (KiCAD > Help > ‘Copy Version Information’… paste here)
  2. can you post a couple of lines from your fp-lib-table file? (C:\Users\JonDoe\AppData\Roaming\kicad\fp-lib-table)
  3. can you post the content of the KIGITHUB path variable? (KiCAD > Preferences > ‘Configure Paths’)
  4. does Cvpcb start at all or do you only get the error message?

I am using version 4.0.2

When I open C:\Users\Hcc\AppData\Roaming\kicad\fp-lib-table
With notepad only this is what I see (fp_lib_table
)
This are the path variable
KICAD_PTEMPLATES C:\Program Files\KiCad\share\kicad\template
KIGITHUB https://github.com/KiCad
KISYS3DMOD C:\Program Files\KiCad\share\kicad\modules\packages3d\
KISYS3DMOD C:\Program Files\KiCad\share\kicad\modules\packages3d
KISYSMOD C:\Program Files\KiCad\share\kicad\modules

CvPCB starts and the Err coms up after a second.

Start Pcbnew. Go to the Preferences -> Footprints Library Wizzard and follow its steps.

Hi. I’m having the same problem of not pulling any footprints into my layout and it is driving me crazy. I have stripped my libs down to my 2 libs: one is my legacy footprints and one is my new .pretty footprints. CvPCB seems to associate all my components to these libs but I get the following error:

Error loading netlist.
IO_ERROR: fp-lib-table files contain no lib with nickname ‘C’
from
C:/Jenkins/workspace/windows-kicad-msys2-stable/src/kicad-4.0.1/common/fp_lib_table.cpp: FindRow() :line 623

I have tried all the items in this thread without luck.
Why is it referring to a library with nickname “C” when I don’t have a library with that nickname or anything close.
Also, what is “C:/Jenkins/workspace/…” when that is not my name and I have no path even close.

Any workaround or experiments appreciated. My extreme thanks to the developers of Kicad!
Thank you.

@KF2B
Can you post your fp-lib-table please and also your path variables from preferences in KiCAD?
And when you can, also the netlist you generated.

Hi! Thank you for taking the time to look at this. All the files you asked for are HERE.
I’d hate to start with a 1 component schematic and build up.
This was a design started in the old version then migrated to the current stable release. Version info in the zip file. Thank you SO much.
Jamie

I found the problem why I could not load the netlist without throwing the "IO_ERROR: fp-lib-table files contain no lib with nickname ‘C’ " error.
My problem turned out to be the footprint association on one component was corrupted with a strange path that I have no idea how it happened. It was of the form “C:_Backups_Business_Electronics Design_KiCad_Modules.pretty_FB_2743019447.kicad_mod”
I’m posting my brute force solution to hopefully assist others as a suggestion for a process to figure out what your problem might be. Process to figure out the problem:

  1. copy all schematic sheets (backup)
  2. delete all sheets from the root schematic except 1 component.
  3. generate a netlist.
  4. In PCBNew, read in the netlist and see if the error is gone. (It was in my case)
  5. change the names of the schematic sheets by appending something to them.
  6. place one of your schematic sheets on the root page and poke into the schematic and do “File >> Append Schematic Sheet” to a sheet.
  7. Annotate the schematic and generate the netlist
  8. Go back to PCBNew and read in the net list again.
  9. Step and repeat steps 6, 7, and 8 until PCBNew throws the error.
  10. Once you find the offending page, delete half of the components on the page and generate the net list again and go back to PCBNew to read in the netlist.
  11. Filter down till you find the offending component as was the case for me.
    I appreciate the Kicad team! Thank you.
    Jamie
