Can't add trace between pins with autogenerated netnames

I designed a board with KiCAD 6. I am now revising it with KiCAD 8. In my schematic, I have a resistor connected to the LED in a switch. This is done with a wire instead of netnames. For example, a wire goes from R27 to pin L1 on the LED/Switch.

On the PCB, R27-2 shows a netname of S1-A__AMBER, while the pin on the LED/Switch shows a net name of R27-Pad2. A_AMBER is the pin label inside the symbol. It’s interesting that this happened on each of these switches. The netnames on the LED pin are different from the netnames on the resistor that is supposed to connect to it. However, looking at other parts on the board that have directly wired connections on the schematic seem to be fine.

Ideas?

THANKS!

OK, I found that when I did PCB update from schematic, it could not find the footprints for the LED/Switches. I unchecked Update Footprints, and all is well.
