Can the name of a track be changed?

Hi,
occassionally I would like to change the name of a track without a real component in between. E.g. if I use a usb/TTL converter like FTDI the Tx Signal is connected to Rx of the controller and vice versa for Rx. Write now I use two jumper in between but do not really need.
Is there a way to avoid the jumper?
