Can not bulk edit symbol fields visuality

Hi. I’m using Kicad 8.0 and KiCad EDA 9.0, and experiencing the same problem: “Edit Symbol Fields” button oppens the same table as the “Generate Bill of Materials” one and editting that table influences BOM and not th efields of symbols placed on the schematic. And how do I bulk edit symbol fields?

Yes, this is the button and the one on its right get you to the same place and deal with the BOM ONLY.

But you can bulk edit all fields there. You might have to check the tickboxes on the left of the fields you want to edit

That is exactly what I am doing but that does not do anything to the schematic after checking and unchecking the fields as desierd anf clicking on “Apply, Save Schematic & Continue” button and than “OK” the schematic is still loocking the same as before.

Just tested it, works for me in v9.0.3 and version 8 as well

Are you changing fields that are actually present in the symbols you are trying to change ? can you check a symbol’s properties before trying to change it and then again after trying to change it . . .

I’m doing exactly this right now with V8.0.9 and it works just fine (Windows 11)

Changing (trying to) all the fields mainly those used.
To clarify: I’m trying to do bulkly what I do specificly do by changing “Show” option in single symbols “Symbol Properties” menue.

Yes, I’m able to change the value, reference designator and any custom field on my symbols

Got it:

and there is no such an option.
Thank you @Mineotopia & @RaptorUK

OH! I understand now. Yes, there is indeed no option for this

However, if you want to hide stuff, just select it and press “delete”, this hides it as well (and does not actually delete it)

There is no way to bulk show it though

however, this menu might be able to do what you want. It is basically an UI for a macro to bulk edit things

Well by me it actually does

it removes it, yes. But if you check the symbol properties, it is still there, only the “show” checkbox is unticked:

Gone by me:

you do select them in the schematic editor and press delete there, don’t you?

The other suggestion, going via “edit text and graphic properties” could also be a workaround that might work for you
