Cairo canvas pad properties problem

in Cairo canvas, pressing E on the pad to edit it, the pad appears on the right corner with no number or anchor, trying any thing like zooming for example will make it vanish, there is no such a behavior in openGL.
is this a bug?

This is a bug that can be searched for, then reported on:

The Cairo canvas seems somewhat derelict though, because it is sometimes very slow. From what I understand the situation might improve in the future if work is done to improve this alternative to hardware acceleration.
