Hello,
New member and first question. Thank you in advance for any help with this issue!
I was wondering if there is a way in KICAD to make a contact button on the PCB for a conductive silicon button or something else conductive to activate. In other words, is there a way to design the contact on the PCB to act like a switch as seen on remote controls and keyboards.
Thank you again.
There may be contact button footprints that you can use but typically for these kinds of buttons it’s as straight forward as a footprint with fingers that are bridged by the conductive buttons.
I’d search for existing contact buttons and if you don’t find any you could create a custom footprint with those interleaving fingers.
Do you mean something like the thing that is discussed in either of the two following topics? (I don’t know why the first topic has been flagged. @Joan_Sparky can you look into it? It seems like a good example topic for such a footprint.)
The second topic used a much more complicated layout.
