Recently, I Started again with KiCAD, and am now creating my first bus. Where do I find the setting to not mess up the chips pin naming and the connected bus lines? it is all written on top of each other.
This is on the LEFT of a DSP Chip, the numbering and layout to the right of the chip looks perfect.
I cannot even select the Black bus line names on the left, no matter how much I zoom in.
I can easily select those on the right side of the chip.
AFAIK, I have not altered any settings in KiCad…
Have you tried to rotate the labels or place them in other x position? Anyway I suggest you to check out Kicad Documentation for exploring other options/features.
no, since I cannot even select them, therefore I also cannot edit or reposition them.
Could someone please try a similar drawing with a bus , and see how it looks there?
This will most probably not help (at least I have not seen such a issue).
Depending on the used kicad version (v7.x.y? v8.0.x??? v9?) a update might help, as some early versions had problems with selecting some strings. So you should inform us about the used kicad version.
regarding the bus member names:
normally just repositioning them to the left should help (yes, I know, you can’t select them).
if you draw (unfold) the bus member the next time notice this unfolding is a two-step-operatoin:
first left click unfolds and sets the position for the bus member string
subsequently the wire drawing mode is still active and you could continue the wire to the connected symbol pin. This allows to place the bus member string more to the left
regarding unable to select the bus member names: do you have tried both box-selection methods around the bus members? (drawing selection box from left–>right, and drawing contrary from right–>left)
As a workaround to select them you may also use the search panel (activate with View–>Show search panel). On the “labels” pane all available schematic labels are listed. If you click one, it’s automatically selected (and can be deleted)
Click and drag the area. Select the pins and lines. The labels should be selected too.
Then hold control and unselect just the lines, and the symbol if it’s highlighted.
Then hit x.
Be prepared to ctrl-z a few times if you get it wrong.
I’m not sure what is happening here. First guess is that KiCad selects a pin of the symbol, instead of the label. One way around is is to keep the mouse button depressed on the label for about a second. With such a long click, a selection menu pops up, and you can select the item you want from the menu.
Quicker is to just draw a box around all the labels. Draw the box from left to right. This way only fully enclosed items become part of the selection.
